Take Action! | Sustainability | SIU

Hello Saluki Green Action Team! Last month we learned how to conserve energy and stay cool this summer. This month let's take a look at some simple ways to be more sustainable as we transition into the new school year! 

Did You Know:  All manufactured goods have environmental impact, but bicycles can be produced for a fraction of the materials, energy and shipping costs of a car? (Source: https://www.mnn.com/green-tech/transportation/stories/12-reasons-to-start-using-a-bicycle-for-transportation) 

Take Action Now: If you have a bike or plan on getting one, you can opt to ride it around campus and town and reap several benefits (click the source link to see more benefits). While supporting a healthier environment, you can avoid traffic and won't have to purchase a parking pass or pay meters! Concerned about getting sweaty from the heat? The Recreation Center has showers available for free use. An alternative is Davies Gym which has both male (Room 130) and female (Room 143) locker rooms with showers that you can use!
