Hello Green Action Team!

Welcome to the new Saluki Green Action of the week! We know that water bills are now on the rise. Luckily, there are many easy tricks to conserving water and keeping your bill low.

Did You Know: The average American shower uses 17.2 gallons (65.1 liters) and lasts for 8.2 minutes at average flow rate of 2.1 gallons per minute (gpm) (7.9 lpm)? Even having the water on while you brush your teeth can waste 4 gallons! (Source: http://www.home-water-works.org/indoor-use/showers)

Take Action Now: Use a timer to work on shortening your showers to conserve water. Start by shortening by 30 seconds, then 45 seconds, and so on!

To Win a Prize: Show us how you are taking action to conserve water. Post your methods to our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram/Twitter (@siugreenaction) to be entered for a chance to win this month's prize!

Invite your friends to join the team, too. If they mention that you referred them when they sign upyou'll receive an extra entry in our next prize drawing.

Keep up the great work,
