Take Action! | Sustainability | SIU

Hello Saluki Green Action Team! Thanksgiving may be over, but the holiday season is just beginning. That often means more celebrating and more food (you and your stomach can do it!). This month we have learned how to prevent food waste at these large family gatherings. Those green actions are easy to apply during the upcoming holidays as well! 

Did You Know: The United States alone generates 34 million tons of food waste each year? An extra 5 million tons is wasted just between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. (Source:http://www.worldwatch.org/reducing-food-waste-during-holiday-season) 

Take Action Now: Find creative recipes that use leftovers you may already have! Don't know where to start? You can find all kinds of ideas online; Global Citizen offers some great recipe ideas.
