Hello Saluki Green Action Team! Thanks to the EcoChallenge, we've developed some new sustainability habits, so let's put them to good use this month! We're going to look at ways to have a sustainable Thanksgiving. 

Did You Know: Nearly one-third of the meat from a turkey served in the average household is thrown out and sent to the landfill? (Source: ENVIROBLOG) 

Take Action Now: Check at local farms about smaller, organic turkeys available for purchase. Or an alternative to turkey altogether!

Composting is one alternative to food waste that you could try this holiday season. SIU's food waste from the dining halls goes to the Forced Air Compost Facility to be reused on the farms.
