Outreach

We strive to help embed a culture of sustainability through all aspects of campus life. We are proud to have accomplished so much with YOUR help! SIU Carbondale currently has a silver STARS rating and is recognized as a “Green School” by the Princeton Review! At the Sustainability Office, we work closely with students, staff, faculty, and community members and we value that students are agents of change. Through innovative thinking, enthusiasm for one’s work, volunteerism, mindful decision making, and personal responsibility, all members of the SIU community can play an integral role in allowing sustainability to reach every corner of campus.

In addition to these programs, our office is also present at many other activities on campus and around the Carbondale community. Each semester, we support existing activities around campus and work to make them a little more sustainable. We have also hosted a Sustainable Saluki Film Series, in collaboration with faculty members, and have collaborated on a variety of other events. These include our Farm to Fork dinner, Give and Go! (move-out waste diversion), donation drives (Career Closet and food pantry support), Bike to Work Week, and more! We would like you to get involved and help make our future more sustainable!

We are available to help you with programming, classes, or any other sustainability related project! Please see our outreach poster and contact us for more information!
