Take Action! | Sustainability | SIU

Hello Saluki Green Action Team! The end of the semester is approaching! Winter break typically means travel and time away from your SIU home. Mother Nature gives us gifts every day, so let's try to give back this holiday season. 

Did You Know: Energy efficient electronics save 25 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions annually? (Source: https://www3.epa.gov/epahome/hi-winter.htm#star) 

Take Action Now: Here are a few steps you can take to help conserve energy over break:

Make sure all of the lights are off. 

Unplug all electronics. 

Turn off power strips. 

If you are leaving your apartment for a long period of time, turn your thermostat down; you can set it as low as 50 degrees and not risk having pipes freeze.
